An error message containing "user has temporarily exceeded the allowed mail recipient relays per day" is generated if an email account exceeds its maximum number of recipients in any 24 hour period.
To discourage spammers from using our services to send junk mail, all new email addresses are limited to sending to 25 recipients every 24 hours. After a couple of weeks the limit is automatically raised to a few hundred recipients.
One email message addressed to 10 people counts as 10 recipients, and 10 separate email messages addressed to the same person also counts as 10 recipients.
