Renewing Hover Services

This tutorial will guide you through the process of renewing your Hover services.

To begin, log into your Hover account online at: https://www.hover.com/login

In your Hover account, go to the List of Domains tab then click on the domain name or email address that needs to be renewed.

Currently Managing: will display the registered domain or email service being managed. Click on the Renew Services link to renew the service being managed.

Using the Renewal Date drop down list, you can choose a renewal date up to a maximum of 10 years into the future.

If you have been given a coupon code, type it into the coupon code text box then click on Apply to update your price.

Click Checkout when you are ready to proceed.

Fill in your billing name and address as it appears on your credit card statements. If you have previously purchases services in your account, the billing information will be filled in automatically.

Our billing system uses address verification for anti-fraud purposes. It is very important for your billing information to match the records with your credit card company!

An order confirmation screen will be displayed. Click Continue to return to your Hover account.

Does renewing the Hover service also renew the domain name?

Tuesday Jun 16 at 02:29 PM Tyson Acker

Great question Matt!

Any domains that are registered through Hover are automatically renewed with your Hover service renewals.

If you bought Hover services for domain names that are registered through another registrar, then your renewal will only add a year to your Hover services, not your domain registration.

I just renewed one of my clients web domains.... how long before it takes effect and the web page returns

Tuesday Nov 10 at 12:53 PM Tyson Acker

@David - when an expired domain is renewed we update the expiration date at the registry immediately, but DNS propagation causes delays in the return of the hosted website. Basically, after an Internet Provider updates their DNS server their customers will see the website back up again.

You can find a neat third party DNS propagation checker tool at this URL: http://www.whatsmydns.net/

What is the renewal price for email services?

Tuesday Jan 19 at 03:11 PM Tyson Acker

Is there a way to enable automatic renewal of services?

Monday Mar 08 at 01:31 PM Tyson Acker

@ Mike B. - Active services are renewed automatically, provided that you have accurate billing information saved in your Hover account.

This tutorial deals more specifically with your question: http://about.hover.com/renewalsettings

I renewed my domain name service this morning and checked the website now and it is still not working. How long until it will work?

Friday Mar 19 at 05:21 PM Tyson Acker

@ Catherine - The answer to your question really depends on how long your Internet Service Provider caches DNS records. It could take anywhere from 15 minutes to 48 hours. In most cases, expired domains are back online within 24 hours of being renewed.

Hello ,, i have one domian that's no longer need , but the status for my sevices is set to auto renew for all domains ,that mean this domian will get renew automatically ,, how i can stop this ?

Wednesday May 12 at 12:17 PM Tyson Acker

@ Emad - All you need to do is cancel the domain name that you no longer need. That will stop all automated billing for that domain. Step by step instructions are posted here: http://about.hover.com/cancel

Tuesday Jun 29 at 07:47 AM Ralf

well, how come the billing form is limited to US/CA and AUS? i am from EU and have a domain that had been regged by a US buddy - how can I renew?

Wednesday Jun 30 at 03:42 PM Tyson Acker

@Ralf - If the State/Province drop-down list for Canada, USA, and Australia does not apply to you, then you can leave it blank and use the "Other State/Province" text field to enter your state/province/county, if applicable. The State/Province field is only required for customers with credit card billing addresses in Canada, USA, and Australia.

Wednesday Jul 07 at 10:08 AM Matt

My domain expired while I was out of the country, and hover.com (through tucows.com) is listed as the current registrar. I don't have any business with either company (nor with renewyourname.net), so i don't have a login or any information on how to get my domain renewed.

Of course, I don't want to renew it here, given the shady situation of everyone pointing to everyone else and the fact that the domain, which should have automatically become available after 30 days, is still hidden away somewhere. I would, however, like to get it out of limbo here - anyone with advice on that?

Thanks!

Thursday Jul 08 at 12:21 PM Tyson Acker

@ Matt - Unfortunately, you didn't leave us a valid email address where we could contact you. Please contact help@hover.com so we can help you sort out the trouble with your domain name. We have a 40 day grace period, followed by a 30 day redemption period. It takes 75 days for the registry to delete an expired domain from our system.

Wednesday Sep 01 at 07:36 AM Tommy

I used to use PayPal to renew my account. Can I still use this?
Thanks.

Wednesday Sep 01 at 11:43 AM Tyson Acker

@ Tommy - Currently we only accept online payments using Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. We can accept money orders (in USD) from any customers who are unable to pay by credit card. Please give us a call at 1-866-731-6556 if you need to make alternate arrangements with us.

Saturday Jun 04 at 05:24 PM Yehouda Harpaz

I just tried to renew my domain for 10 years,
but it didn't let me do it, When I press "update" or "checkout" it reset the date to a one year extension.
Hwo I can get it to extend by 10 years?

Thanks,

Yehouda Harpaz

Saturday Jun 04 at 06:16 PM Yehouda Harpaz

Earlier I wrote that I failed to renew for 10 years. Afterwards I found that I can renw for nine years.

Monday Jun 06 at 12:51 PM Nathan Budd

Hi Yehouda,

Domains can only be registered for a maximum of 10 years. If your domain still had time left on it, even a single day, then registering for 10 years would have had it registered for a total of 10 years and 1 day, which is over the limit.

So, for a domain that is already registered and not yet expired, the most you can renew it for will only ever be 9 years.

Thanks for the great question!

Nathan
