Register a New Domain

Hover makes it easy to register your own domain names. This lesson will step you through the process.

If you are already logged into your Hover account you will see this page:

Click on Shopping Cart.

1. Type the domain name that you would like to register in the search box.

2. Select the top-level domain you prefer from the drop-down list. Currently, you can choose from a .COM/.NET/.ORG/.BIZ/.INFO/.CA/.US domain name.

3. Click on Search.

In this example I am going to search for awesomelawncare.net.

Mailboxes can be added at the following pricing:

1 mailbox: $20
6 mailboxes: $45
10 mailboxes: $65

All email accounts include webmail, POP3, and IMAP access with 2 GB of storage.

Click the plus under Add to Cart.

Click on Checkout when you are ready to proceed to payment.

You'll have another chance to purchase mailboxes. Domains can be registered for a term up to 10 years. The default term is 1 year.

If you have a coupon code, type it into the coupon code box then click Apply.

Click Checkout when you are ready to proceed.

If you already have an account, enter your Username and password then click Sign In. In this example, I am going to create a new account.

New customers need to provide their name, a contact email address, then pick a username and password for their Hover account. Click Create Account after typing in all the required details.

Type in your name, organization, and address for the domain registration record. This information needs to be accurate in case you forget your log in credentials.

If the domain is not being registered for an organization, type your name in the Organization Name text field.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page when ready.

Domain privacy is enabled by default. Having privacy enabled is like having an unlisted phone number. When privacy is turned off, anyone can view your registration record by doing a domain WHOIS search (see http://who.is for example). We do not charge extra for domain privacy.

Domain privacy is completely optional. We give our customers the tools to protect their privacy, but it isn't for everyone. Domain owners who want to make it easy for others to find or contact them should turn privacy off.

Billing information needs to be filled in next. Please ensure that you type in all fields as they appear on your credit card statements. We use name and address verification for anti-fraud purposes. If your name and address do not match the credit card company's records, the payment may be rejected.

The Card CVV is the 3 digit code on the back of a Visa or Mastercard, or the 4 digit code on the front of an American Express card.

Click Continue after filling in all of your billing information.

You can click on Hover Terms of Service to review our service agreement. Put a check next to "I have read and agree to the Hover Terms of Service" then click Finish.

An order summary will be displayed. Click Continue.

The new domain name will be listed under the List of Domains tab in your Hover account.
