This lesson describes how to configure your iPhone 4G to work with your email account. These instructions were created using an iPhone 4G running iOS 4.0. If you are using a different version of the iPhone hardware or operating system, these instructions may differ slightly.
Tap Settings on your home screen.
Scroll down and tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Tap the Add Account option.
Tap Other.
Tap Add Mail Account.
Enter the following settings:
Name: Enter your name as you wish it to appear when you send email
Address: Enter your full Hover email address
Password: Enter your Hover email password
Description: Enter any account description of your choice
Tap Next.
The Hover email service supports both IMAP and POP. In this tutorial I am going to select IMAP. You can select either IMAP or POP. The settings are the same for both.
We recommend IMAP because it will keep messages in sync between your iPhone and any other computers or devices that you also use with IMAP to access your email account.
Under the Incoming Mail Server section, enter the following settings.
Host Name: mail.hover.com
User Name: Enter your full Hover email address
Password: Enter your Hover email password
Scroll down to the Outgoing Mail Server section.
Under the Outgoing Mail Server section, enter the following settings:
Host Name: mail.hover.com
User Name: Enter your full Hover email address
Password: Enter your Hover email password
Tap Next.
Your device will verify your email account settings. This may take several minutes.
If you receive an error indicating that you Cannot Connect Using SSL then tap Yes to continue without SSL.
Tap Save.
Your IMAP account will display a status message that it has Configured sync. This screen will only appear for a few seconds.
The email account configuration has been completed!
