Click on the Tools menu and select Account Settings.

Click on Account Actions and select Add Mail Account.

Enter the following:

Your name: Type your name as you wish it to appear when you send email.
Email address: Type your Hover email address
Password: Type your Hover email password.

Click Continue.

Thunderbird will try to configure settings automatically using its ISP database. Click on the Stop button a couple of times so you can enter your settings manually.

Enter the following settings:

The following settings need to be entered:

Username: Enter your full Hover email address
Incoming: mail.hover.com
Outgoing: mail.hover.com

Select POP after the Incoming mail server name.

Incoming port number: 995
Outgoing port number: 465

Incoming security: SSL/TLS
Outgoing security: SSL/TLS

Once these settings have been entered, click on Re-test Configuration.

Green lights indicate that the configuration test was successful.

Click on Create Account.

If you have previously configured email accounts in Thunderbird, the Hover outgoing email server needs to be set as your default server for sending messages. Select Outgoing Server (SMTP) from the left hand column, click on your Hover account, and then click on the Set Default button.

To send email, a small adjustment to your outgoing server settings will be required. With the Hover outgoing server select, click on the Edit button.

Type your full Hover email address in the User Name field then click OK.

Your outgoing User Name should now display your full Hover email address.

By default, Mozilla Thunderbird will leave copies of your email messages on our server and then delete them after 14 days.

If you want to save back up copies of your incoming messages on the Hover email server for longer than 14 days, then select the Server Settings option from the left hand colum and remove the check next to "For at most 14 days."

Click OK to save your new settings.

The account configuration has been completed. Click on Get Mail to start downloading your email messages.
