A handy feature in our webmail system is the address book export. This allows you to import your webmail contacts into an email program on your computer. This lesson will step you through exporting your contacts from webmail and then importing the contacts into common email programs.
Under your webmail Address Book, click on All.
Click on Manage Contacts.
Click on the Export tab.
You can choose to export all of your contacts or a group of contacts.
The following mail programs are supported currently:
- Outlook 2000/2003
- Outlook Express 6
- Mozilla Thunderbird
However, other mail applications that can import *.csv address books may also be able to import the file.
After making your selections, click on the Export button
Select Save File then click OK.
Instructions on how to import contacts into Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, and Mozilla Thunderbird are listed below.
From the File menu, select the Import and Export option.
Select "Import from another program or file" and click Next.
Select Comma Separated Values (Windows) and click Next again.
Click on Browse.
Browse for the file that was saved to your computer after you exported your contacts from webmail then click OK.
In this example, I decided I wanted to replace duplicate address book entries from the imported contacts. This is optional. The default is to allow duplicates. Click Next after choosing your preference under Options.
Select Contacts as the folder to save the address book in then click Next.
Click Finish. The contacts have now been imported into Outlook.
Click on the File menu, select Import, then click on Other Address Book.
Select "Text File (Comma Separated Values)" then click on Import.
Click on Browse
Click Next.
Click Finish. The contacts have now been imported into Outlook Express.
Click on the Tools menu then click on Import.
Select Address Books and click Next.
Select "Text file (LDIF, .tab, .csv, .txt)" and click Next.
Select Comma Separated (*.csv) from the "Files of type:" drop-down list.
Browse to the folder containing your address book file then click on the file name and click on Open.
Click OK.
Click Finish.
If you open your Thunderbird address book you will now see the new address book added to your Address Books list.
