Step 2: Verify/Update Administrative Email

This tutorial will show you how to verify and update your administrative email contact.

Visit http://www.godaddy.com and log in with your customer number and password.

Select the My Account tab then click on Domain Manager.

Put a check next to the domain name to be transferred, click on the Contact button, and select Set Contacts.

Select the Administrator tab and enter your new administrator email address in the Email address: text field. Click OK.

A word of caution: do not change the Organization or First name and Last name fields. GoDaddy will enable a 60 day transfer lock because it is considered a domain ownership change.

It may take approximately 30 minutes for your changes to be updated. Click OK.

When I try to update the admin e mail Go Daddy wants me to fill in the required fields under billing information including first and last name... What do I do?

@Kyle - Thanks for the question. If your domain contact information is incomplete, GoDaddy's website will force you to fill in other required fields (such as name and organization) before you can update your administrative email address. There isn't a way around it on the GoDaddy website.

Please note that GoDaddy may consider the contact information update an ownership change and place a 60 day hold on the domain. This you would need to confirm with GoDaddy.

You could try calling GoDaddy to ask whether they can update your admin email without the other contact changes. Here is GoDaddy's support number: (480) 505-8877
